The Wuxi Opera Museum dedicated exclusively to Wuxi opera opened in Wuxi in December 2006, and it is the only one of its kind in China. As the public’s spiritual and cultural needs have grown in the past few years, the Wuxi Cultural Development Group has gradually renovated the Wuxi opera museum and the small theatre from the inside out.
As of today, it is a good place for the general public to visit, since it combines regular performances, interactive experiences, cultural and creative life, exhibitions, displays, and leisure activities.
Wuxi opera is mostly singing, with elegant and lyrical tune as well as a strong sense of life reflecting the charm of Jiangnan’s water towns. It was included in the province’s first batch of intangible cultural heritage in October 2006.
