
The people of Jiangsu have the traditional saying of “Spring Pie”, “Summer Cake”, “Autumn Crisp”, and “Winter Candy” in their culture.


Among these desserts, Jiuniang(Sweet Fermented Rice) Pie is considered as a traditional spring exclusive by the people of Jiangsu, where it tastes best around the Qingming Festival. Jiuniang Pie is tiny, delicate, and looks very much alike Suzhou style mooncakes.


However, the dough is fermented by clear jiuniang and the pie is generally only available during springtime.

Jiuniang Pie has both normal and vegan versions, where its main ingredients include roses, red beans, mints, and many others. Jiuniang Pie is best eaten hot. Its special features include softly sweetness, gleaming surfaces, vivid colourings, and distinctive flavours.
