Online colour painting exhibition of Xuzhou Han stone graving

The theme of this exhibition is “The colourful Han Painting, the Endorsement of Xuzhou”, combining the creative artworks and designs of Jiangsu Normal University graduate students from the department Academy of Arts. This exhibition highlights the historical, cultural, and enchantment of the Han stone graving.

1. Cultural and creative artwork: “Riyouxi”

The name of the artwork is “Riyouxi”, and the word Riyouxi is an auspicious word in the Han Dynasty that has three meanings. From the visual aspect, this work selected elements such as lovebirds, two trees with branches twined, nine-tailed fox, lotus pattern, mulberry tree, fish, etc. This artwork present in a flat design style based on the characteristics of Han stone graving.

2. Oil painting: “Cai”

The oil painting is divided into three parts, the Vermilion Bird, the Pushou (the beast-faced door knocker with a ring pull) and the god. The images of the Vermilion Bird and Pushu merge into the image of the god. This artwork shows the combination of image variations and also reflects the discipline of image evolution in a specific area. The vibrant of Pushou in this artwork has shown its role during the Han Dynasty was to defend and eliminate ominous things.
