The Jiangsu Cultural and Tourism Promotion Seminar which is organised by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, co-organised by the Jiangsu Tourism (Singapore & Malaysia) Promotion Centre, and fully supported by the China Cultural Centre in Singapore, the China National Tourist Office in Singapore and the Jiangsu Association (Singapore), was held on 23 July,2022 (Saturday) at the 4th-floor theatre of the China Cultural Centre in Singapore.<\/p>\n

Li Chuan, Deputy Director General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, participated in the event through online connectivity. Honoured Guests such as Christina Chan–Assistant Director of Singapore Tourism Board (International Relations), Xiao Jianghua–Director of the China Cultural Centre in Singapore and the China National Tourist Office in Singapore, Shen Liguo–representative of the Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Trade Office in Singapore, and more than 200 audiences from Singapore\u2019s arts and culture sector, tourism sector, business community, associations, news media and the general public attended the event. During the hour-long seminar, attendees appreciated the beauty of Jiangsu\u2019s landscape, water resources and culture through the literature, tea culture and wine culture of Jiangsu, as well as the latest tourist attractions in Nanjing.<\/p>\n

Li Chuan, Deputy Director General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said in a video message that the establishment of the Suzhou Industrial Park between Jiangsu Province and Singapore in 1994 has laid a deep and strong foundation for the friendship between Singapore and Jiangsu. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented travel between the two places in the past two years, the friendship and exchanges between Singapore and Jiangsu have not been hindered. As a cultural\u00a0province, Jiangsu is endowed with profound\u00a0cultural heritage. In recent years, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has been promoting the integration of culture and tourism resources and has created a number of outstanding\u00a0literary\u00a0works and high quality tourism products with\u00a0the characteristics of Jiangsu, which Singaporeans are invited to experience in person.<\/p>\n

Xiao Jianghua, Director of the China Cultural Centre\u00a0in Singapore and the China National Tourist Office in Singapore, also mentioned other good examples of close exchanges and cooperation between Singapore and China in his speech–the 2019 Cultural and Tourism Year of Jiangsu held at the China Cultural Centre\u00a0in Singapore gave a new impetus to the cultural exchanges between China and Singapore, and the \u201cRide Jiangsu\u201d event organised by the Singapore Jiangsu Association in the same year took more than 30 Singaporean friends to visit Jiangsu. He said that Jiangsu is a very important province in Eastern China and the seminar brought out the deep-rooted charm of Jiangsu from different perspectives, which can be used as references for future trips to Jiangsu.<\/p>\n

The seminar was divided into four sessions on literature, tea, wine and Jiangsu\u00a0Nanjing\u2019s new attractions. At the opening performance, Singapore\u2019s renowned Wind Percussion ensemble, Reverberance, brought the audience music with rich\u00a0traditional Chinese characteristics. For the literature session, Lee Ye Ming, Editor-in-Chief of sgwritings.com, led the audience to learn about Jiangsu from the perspectives of poems, the Four Great Classical Novels, literati, as well as movies and tv series;\u00a0for the tea session, Kenry\u00a0Beh, the owner of a nearly century-old tea house, shared with the audience the knowledge of Biluochun, the number one tea in Jiangsu produced in the Dongting Mountains of Suzhou. As for the wine session, it brought out the beauty of Suqian with Jiangsu Yanghe wine. The seminar highlights one of the hottest attractions in Nanjing today–the Jinling Town and takes the audience on a video tour of this new attraction. Additionally, the host also linked up with Gu\u00a0Wen, a veteran travel agent in Nanjing, to take the audience on a tour of the Confucius Temple\u00a0and the Qinhuai River, and experience the fun of travelling around Nanjing.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the audience also responded enthusiastically to Jiangsu\u2019s promotional items, the tote bag\u00a0with Jiangsu\u2019s characteristics becoming a \u201cfavourite\u201d of the audience.
